Victoria Wolcott wrote an op-ed article for the discussing how recent incidents of violence against African Americans highlight two related historical phenomena that structure American race relations. “Monday’s incident (in which a white woman called police when an African American man asked her to leash her dog) reflects the legacy of segregation.
